Jerusalem, Israel
BACK
The Jerusalem high rise apartment is spatially designed around the views. We intentionally opened up the walls to create tall glass doors and a very large-scaled window off the living space. These enlarged windows are atypical in Israel. The landscape of Jerusalem is very complex and has combinations of muted colors and rich terrain. The materials of the design copied its complexity with large scaled pietra gray stone tiles, light creamy plastered walls and a rich walnut wood that creates structure for all the parts of the design. Each element is compartmentalized just like the city. A main wood frame houses the bar, bookcase, and view into the kitchen. Central to that is the custom fireplace which becomes a piece of sculpture dividing the living/dining from the kitchen/breakfast room. Bringing the natural landscape and light into this space was so important for apartment dwelling. The visual connection to the city has great benefits to one’s body, mind, and emotions. This project continues to be under construction for four years.
